How to get here

  • Walking

Take the walkway next to Tower Bridge to the pier. We operate from the inside of the pier where you will be met by our shore service and prepared for the trip.

The pier is opposite the Tower Guoman Hotel, east of Tower Bridge. We do not use Tower Pier, on the west side of the Bridge, which is far busier and attracts the tourist trade and the big cruise boats.

  • Tube

The nearest tube is Tower Hill on the Circle Line and District Line. Tower Gateway Dockland Light Railway. Both 5 minutes walk.

  • Train

The nearest mainline train station is Fenchurch St. 10 minutes walk.

  • Parking

This is available by meter throughout the week, and is free at weekends around St. Katherine's dock. There are many car parks in the area.

Guests will be collected from  the pier by Flying Fish Tours 20 minutes prior to sailing time.

St. Katherines Dock has been a focus of commerce and activity for over a thousand years, and is one of the oldest docks in London playing an important role in the history and development of London.

The Docks were designed to handle valuable cargoes such as ivory, shells, sugar, marble, wines, rubber, carpets, fragrant spices and perfumes. It was said that in no other corner of Britain could the vast wealth of the country be seen so easily.

As late as the 1930s, the St Katharine and London Docks were described as "the world's greatest concentration of portable wealth". In conjunction with London Docks and the warehouses in Cutler Street and Commercial Road, the docks handled £8 million-worth of wool each year, about 40% of all the wool moving through the Port of London. Physically, this meant 500,000 to 600,000 bales, each weighing three hundredweight and containing the wool from 60 sheep. Altogether, 32 acres of floor space were allotted to sorting and storing.
